Each year our Green Team plant over 100 trees in our local forest and take part in monthly anti-litter activities in the valley.
In collaboration with the Royal Society for Protection of Nature (RSPN), we are committed to protect and enhance the biodiversity of Phobjikha Valley through projects driven by our Gangtey Lodge Green Team.
THE WOOD we burn in our energy efficient Swiss wood stoves are sourced from sustainable, government-regulated forests.
ALL OUR WASTE is carefully sorted, recycled, composted or properly disposed of.
OUR DRINKING WATER is filtered, treated and bottled on site, and all our waste water is recycled for use in our gardens or donated to water our neighbours’ fields.
OUR ENERGY USAGE is monitored and balanced daily to ensure optimal use.
Our menus focus on SUPPORTING LOCAL PRODUCERS, MINIMIZING IMPORTS AND GROWING what we can on site.
Our hotel Green Team implement a variety of projects throughout the year from donating produce from our gardens to those in need to assisting elderly members of our community in maintaining their homes.
By HIRING LOCALLY AND PROMOTING from within, we empower our local community by bringing opportunity and skills development to such a remote area.
By doing so we help to stem the RURAL-URBAN MIGRATION that threaten the existence of remote farming communities.
We are proud that over 95% of OUR TEAM IS FROM BHUTAN
We further empower our community by DONATING FEES generated through our guest experiences, creating a sustainable source of income.
All our experiences have been created in PARTNERSHIP with our LOCAL COMMUNITY, ensuring that our success is their success.
Throughout the design and construction of our Lodge, we have respected BHUTANESE ARCHITECTURAL HERITAGE to ensure our buildings blend harmoniously and disappear into the village landscape.
Our spiritual and cultural experiences aim to share with our guests the ANCIENT TRADITIONS of the valley and its communities, to PRESERVE them for future generations.
